The MSc in Financial Technology (MFT), with optional internship*(we do not guarantee internships) is a 12/16-month specialist, Master’s level course with an innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum that will produce professionals with skills highly sought after by financial industry firms.

Students will learn about Fintech ecosystem players, disruptive Fintech business models, the use of emerging technologies, various partnership models and the regulatory landscape. It will enable students to develop sufficient skills to work effectively with IT, AI, data science and domain experts to solve contemporary business problems and develop the relevant programming skills about algorithms to solve specific problems in the Banking industry. Students will develop a good understanding of the changing nature of finance and explore future trends like Web 3.0, Metaverse, Decentralized Finance, NFTs.

The course will provide real business, relevant and practical blended ICT knowledge within a Fintech landscape - as well as a well-balanced critical awareness of the global financial regulatory landscape. It will also explore the trends in technologies for payment, lending, insurance, wealth management, regulation and compliance.

This course will also develop their investment decision making skills as well as innovation, automation, strategy, digital design thinking and agile skills in the context of the Fintech sector. These are the skills most in-demand by Fintech companies, traditional and challenger banks, Neo-banks, start-ups, enterprises, consulting companies and regulators. Soft skills support is provided to students to develop their transferable skills by enhancing their communication skills and developing their team leadership skills through various group and role-playing activities.

Curriculum


The curriculum has been designed to enhance employability at all levels of study. The MSc in Financial Technology is an innovative and interdisciplinary programme that aims to fulfil the skills gap and market demand in the FinTech industry by equipping students with the most in-demand skills relevant in the sector. Although the programme is finance focused, given the wide-ranging applications of data analytics, the students will gain skills that are easily transferrable to a wide range of other industries, including e- commerce, hospitality, retail, pharmaceutical and media.

Programme eligibility


We are accepting applications for our October 2025 intake. To be eligible to apply, you must have a minimum 2.1 honours degree* from a UK university or an equivalent international academic qualification from a comparable international institution.

We assess applicants on several factors, including their academic achievements, aptitude test score, interview performance and a holistic view of their profile.

*For candidates with extensive relevant professional experience, we may accept a lower second-class degree or equivalent where judged to be appropriate. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
